رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَاجْعَلْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ سُلْطَانًا نَصِيرًا
Rabbi adkhilni mudkhala sidqin wa akhrijni mukhraja sidqin, waj‘al li min ladunka sultaanan naseera
My Lord, admit me with an entrance of truth, and bring me out with an exit of truth, and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority. (Surah Al-Isra )
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
Rabbi ishrah li sadri, wa yassir li amri, wahlul ‘uqdatan min lisani yafqahu qawli
My Lord, expand my chest for me, make my task easy, and untie the knot from my tongue so they may understand my speech. (Surah Ta-Ha)
اللَّهُمَّ لاَ سَهْلَ إِلاَّ مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلاً وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزَنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلاً
Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja‘altahu sahla, wa anta taj‘alul hazna idha shi’ta sahla
O Allah, nothing is easy except what You make easy, and You make the difficulty, if You will, easy. (Ibn Hibban)
Dua for stress & anxiety دعاء الهم والضيق

حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ
Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel
Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs. (Qur'an 3:173)
Dua for travel دعاء السفر
protection & blessing on the road
الله أكبر، الله أكبر، الله أكبر، ﴿سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ * وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ﴾، اللهم إنا نسألك في سفرنا هذا البر والتقوى، ومن العمل ما ترضى، اللهم هون علينا سفرنا هذا واطوِ عنا بعده، اللهم أنت الصاحب في السفر، والخليفة في الأهل
Allahu Akbar (3x). Subhanalladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila rabbina lamunqalibun. Allahumma inna nas’aluka fi safarina hadha al-birra wat-taqwa, wa minal ‘amali ma tarda. Allahumma hawwin ‘alayna safarana hadha watwi ‘anna bu‘dah. Allahumma antas-sahibu fis-safar, wal-khalifatu fil-ahl.
Allah is the Greatest (3x). Glory be to the One who has subjected this for us, for we could never have done it by ourselves. Surely to our Lord we are returning. O Allah, we ask You for righteousness, piety, and deeds that please You in this journey. Make it easy for us and fold its distance. You are the companion during travel and the caretaker for the family. (Sunan Abi Dawud, Tirmidhi)
Salat al-Istikhara Dua دعاء الاستخارة
seeking guidance in decisions
اللهم إني أستخيرك بعلمك، وأستقدرك بقدرتك، وأسألك من فضلك العظيم، فإنك تقدر ولا أقدر، وتعلم ولا أعلم وأنت علام الغيوب، اللهم إن كنت تعلم أن هذا الأمر خير لي في ديني ومعاشي وعاقبة أمري فاقدره لي ويسره لي ثم بارك لي فيه، وإن كنت تعلم أن هذا الأمر شر لي في ديني ومعاشي وعاقبة أمري فاصرفه عني واصرفني عنه، واقدر لي الخير حيث كان ثم رضني به
Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi‘ilmika wa astaqdiruka biqudratika wa as’aluka min fadlikal-‘azeem, fa innaka taqdiru wa la aqdir, wa ta‘lamu wa la a‘lam wa anta ‘allamul-ghuyub. Allahumma in kunta ta‘lamu anna hadhal-amra khayrun li fi dini wa ma‘ashi wa ‘aqibati amri faqdirhu li wa yassirhu li thumma barik li fihi, wa in kunta ta‘lamu anna hadhal-amra sharrun li fi dini wa ma‘ashi wa ‘aqibati amri fasrifhu ‘anni wasrifni ‘anhu, waqdir liyal-khayra haythu kana thumma raddini bih.
O Allah, I seek Your guidance by Your knowledge, and I seek ability by Your power, and I ask from Your great bounty. You have power, I have none. You know, I know not. You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter is good for my religion, livelihood, and the end of my affair, then decree it for me, make it easy, and bless me in it. If You know that it is harmful, then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree good for me wherever it may be and make me content with it. (Bukhari)

Before making dua, say: الدعاء باسم الله الأعظم
the greatest name of Allah
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، الأَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ، الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ، وَلَمْ يُولَدْ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
Allahumma inni as’aluka bi-anni ashhadu annaka antallahu la ilaha illa ant, al-Ahadus-Samad, alladhi lam yalid wa lam yoolad, wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad
O Allah, I ask You by virtue that I bear witness that You are Allah — there is no god but You, the One, the Eternal Refuge, who neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.
Reference: The Prophet ﷺ said: “He has asked Allah by His greatest name, which if He is asked thereby He gives, and if called upon He answers.” (Sunan Abi Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Hibban — sahih)
Dua of Prophet Sulaiman (AS) دعاء سليمان عليه السلام
gratitude & righteous action
رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Rabbi awzi‘ni an ashkura ni‘matakallati an‘amta ‘alayya wa ‘ala walidayya wa an a‘mala salihan tardahu wa adkhilni birahmatika fi ‘ibadikas-salihin
My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteous deeds that please You, and admit me by Your mercy into the ranks of Your righteous servants. (Surah An-Naml)
Dua for dunya & akhira دعاء الدنيا والآخرة
comprehensive dua
اللهم ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنةً وفي الآخرة حسنةً وقنا عذاب النار
Allahumma Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah, wa fil-akhirati hasanah, wa qina ‘adhaban-nar
Our Lord, give us in this world good, and in the Hereafter good, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
Forgiveness · Istighfar دعاء الاستغفار
seeking Allah's mercy
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي كُلَّهُ، دِقَّهُ وَجِلَّهُ، وَأَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ، وَعَلَانِيَتَهُ وَسِرَّهُ
Allahumma-ghfir li dhanbi kullahu, diqqahu wa jillahu, wa awwalahu wa akhirahu, wa ‘alaniyatahu wa sirrahu
O Allah, forgive me all my sins — the minor and the major, the first and the last, the open and the secret. (Sahih Muslim)
اللهم اغفر للمؤمنين والمؤمنات والمسلمين والمسلمات الأحياء منهم والأموات
Allahumma-ghfir lil-mu’mineena wal-mu’minaat, wal-muslimeena wal-muslimaat, al-ahya’i minhum wal-amwaat
O Allah, forgive the believing men and women, the Muslim men and women, the living among them and the deceased.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever seeks forgiveness for the believing men and women, Allah writes for him a good deed for every believer.” (authentic, Tabarani)
